BRANTÔME

Brântome is a unique town in the Périgord with a rich history and a well conserved heritage which you can discover on foot from our house. Here are some suggestions for places to visit :

The Benedictine Abbey and the Church of Saint Peter. The foundations were laid by Charlemagne himself in 769. Guided tours available from the Tourist Office.
The Belfry, built in the 11th century and one of the oldest to be found in France. Guided tours available from the Tourist Office.
The Troglodyte Trail, remains of the first monastery built into the foot of the cliff, and The “Cave of the Last Judgement”. Guided tours available from the Tourist Office.
